HDI Unveils Laser 3DTV

Silicon Valley start-up HDI has unveiled its laser, hidef 3DTV. The company demonstrated its prototype for reporters in the Bay Area last week. The TV is said to refresh at 1080 Hz, more than twice rate of the latest high-end sets for far smoother images. HDI chief technology officer Edmund Sandberg said the set delivers “1920 by 1080 lines, all the time, to your eye, and in parallel.”

HDI combines lasers with a propriety optical engine that can project images to both eyes at 1080 hertz. After separating the picture into three colors, the image reaches each eye at 360 frame refreshes per second, about six times that of a competing 3-D television.

Startup unveils 100 inch 3D laser TV

LOS GATOS, CA (KGO) -- In a few years, you could be watching 3D laser TV. This week, a Los Gatos startup unveiled the world's first 100-inch 3D home theater powered by lasers.

The new 3D is all the rage in entertainment around the world. Most videogames come in 3D versions. A new 3D movie will be released every month in the coming year. It's all being driven by new technology that has replaced the old red-blue glasses with stylish models designed for digital.
